global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Wildland Etosha Nature Reserve<\/h2>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.9&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Coming from the direction of Outjo, just a few miles from the southern entrance of Etosha National Park \u2013 the well-known Andersson Gate \u2013 a private access road branches off to the east. After about four kilometers, you reach the entrance gate of the extensive <a href=\"https:\/\/ondili.com\/en\/ecology\/#wildland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wildland Etosha Nature Reserve<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The nature reserve borders Etosha National Park directly for a length of around 20 kilometers. This privileged location allows for nature experiences in one of the most wildlife-rich regions of Namibia. <\/p>\n<p>The landscape reflects the typical character of the southern Etosha region: vast grasslands, mopane tree savannas, and striking limestone formations define the scenery. The environment provides a protected habitat for numerous wild animals. _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The lodge is located in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ondili.com\/en\/ecology\/#wildland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wildland Etosha<\/a>\u201d nature reserve on a wide plain that feels like a parkland.<\/p>\n<p>A curved wooden walkway leads to the open-plan reception with a lobby and bar. The view sweeps across the large infinity pool into the tree savanna, where animals can often be spotted. Shaded seating islands facing the waterholes invite you to watch the wildlife.  <\/p>\n<p>The main building, surrounded by ancient mopane trees, is set in a naturally park-like landscape. The area was declared a national park as early as 1907 and is now one of the most visited natural regions in the country. <\/p>\n<p>More than 100 mammal species, a variety of reptiles, and around 340 bird species are native here. In years with high rainfall, the Etosha Pan fills with water and transforms into a shallow, expansive lake. Large flocks of water birds, including flamingos, then migrate to the region.  <\/p>\n<p>The park is named after the Etosha Pan \u2013 a bright clay pan of about 5,000 km\u00b2 that originated from a prehistoric inland lake and now forms the center of the park. \u201cEtosha\u201d means \u201cgreat white place\u201d in the Ovambo language \u2013 an apt description for the vast, shimmering salt surface. <\/p>\n<p>The surrounding landscape is characterized by grasslands, bush vegetation, and open tree savanna.
