The region feels wild and lonely. Dark granite mountains and hills in various shades of brown, gray, and black stand out from the light desert sand. Ana trees grow in the valleys of the dry riverbeds\u2014they form the lifelines of this landscape. The valleys are the few areas where life can be sustained permanently and thus shape the entire structure of the region.    <\/p>\n<p>Here you will also encounter the desert elephants, which have adapted to these extreme conditions. They follow the dry riverbeds over long distances, know the few water holes, and specifically use the vegetation of the valleys\u2014always in close connection with the landscape in which they live.
