It features a variety of landscapes \u2013 from open plains to mountain ranges up to 2,000 meters high, sandy dunes, and canyons with unexpectedly rich vegetation. These immediate transitions create the basis for a correspondingly diverse wildlife.  <\/p>\n<p>The 140,000 ha <a href=\"https:\/\/ondili.com\/en\/ecology\/#wildland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wildland Namib Tsaris<\/a> Nature Reserve is one of several private protected areas in this region. Independently, they pursue the same goal: to preserve large habitats and create space for natural development. <\/p>\n<p>At the same time, this region is one of the driest areas in Namibia. The effects of climate change are particularly noticeable here, which further increases the importance of preserving this sensitive landscape. <\/p>\n<p>The Namib Outpost and Desert Homestead Lodge are located within the <a href=\"https:\/\/ondili.com\/en\/ecology\/#wildland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wildland Namib Tsaris<\/a> Nature Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; With increasing distance, vast grass and sand plains open up, stretching over large areas and shaping the landscape. Dry riverbeds with camel thorn acacias traverse these plains, while isolated, sand-encircled inselbergs create striking accents. The Tsaris Mountains, a mountain range up to 2,000 meters high, form the backdrop. Despite the extreme conditions, a surprisingly diverse wildlife adapted to the Namib&#8217;s environment can be found here.
