Spitzkoppe

Day Trips to the Highlights of the Erongo Region

A trip to Spitzkoppe is undoubtedly one of the highlights of any Namibia vacation. Spitzkoppe is about an hour’s drive from Hohenstein Lodge. You can clearly see its striking silhouette right from the panoramic terrace.

Local guides can be hired on-site for individual explorations. They lead tours to the Bogenfels, selected viewpoints, and along the Bushman Trail to the historic rock paintings.

Spitzkoppe – Namibia’s Matterhorn

If you want to explore Spitzkoppe on your own, you’ll find plenty of space for a custom tour. You can set your own pace, duration, and focus. We are happy to prepare a packed lunch for you upon request.

It stands there even from a distance – like a granite giant rising suddenly from the plain. Spitzkoppe looks as if it were simply placed into the landscape: massive, towering, and barely integrated into its surroundings.

The closer you get, the clearer the dimensions become. The distinct shape turns into a complex of rocks, natural arches, and massive granite boulders scattered around the mountain. Paths lead between them, past rock arches and toward viewpoints where the vast plain stretches to the horizon.

Ondili Lodges, Regions, and Experiences

Each Ondili Lodge is inextricably linked to its surroundings—and that is exactly where the local experiences come from. What guests can do here isn't just based on a fixed program, but arises from the landscape itself.

Every region reveals different facets of Namibia: sometimes the focus is on the wildlife, sometimes on the vastness of the landscape or exploring on foot. The lodges embrace these unique features.

This creates an interplay of location, accommodation, and activity that makes each region uniquely experienceable – and invites you to discover Namibia from different perspectives.
