Windhoek Region

Windhoek is the capital of Namibia. There are several historically interesting buildings in the city. Shops and restaurants can be found on Independence Avenue.

However, some of the good restaurants are located in non-central areas and are not stumbled upon by chance while strolling through the city. For example, Joey’s Beerhouse:

Joey’s Beerhouse is an institution in Windhoek. Iconic and always a worthwhile address for hearty food and drinks. Ti Melen’s German-speaking management will gladly book you a table. It’s even advisable to make a reservation in advance, at the same time as booking your room. Joey’s is always full…

City bus tours are a way to get an overview of the city. Ti Melen is also happy to assist with bookings here.

The security situation for tourists in Windhoek is no different than in major cities worldwide.

Activities on Your Own

Namibia’s capital offers numerous sights and cultural events, as well as a wide selection of museums, restaurants, and shopping centers.

The following overview shows interesting activities in the Windhoek area that are not organized by Ondili. These activities must be booked directly with the respective organizer by the guest, with the guesthouse reception happy to assist.

Of course, there is much more to discover. For further recommendations or booking assistance, please feel free to contact the management.

Shopping & Dining

On the banks of the Goreangab Dam, women operate a social project featuring workshops, a shop, and a café. The aim is to provide disadvantaged women with new opportunities and income. Each handcrafted piece tells a story of strength and self-determination.

Ecology

Ondili places the highest value on ensuring that the operation of Ondili Lodges results in nature conservation. This commitment is the foundation and driving force of the Ondili Group.

  • Since its inception, Ondili has invested its entire annual profit into nature conservation.
  • For every guest room in an Ondili lodge, Ondili has created at least 1,000 ha (10 km²) of new nature reserve in Namibia and maintains these reserves.
  • At Ondili, electricity and hot water are predominantly generated by our own solar power systems.
  • The local population benefits from the creation of jobs in the lodges' nature reserves and in the craft sectors.
  • Firewood for the evening campfires is sourced from bush clearing measures necessary for the regeneration of natural areas in Ondili's northern nature reserves.
  • Involvement of local farmers in nature conservation concepts

What Our Guests Say

This was our second time at Ti Melen. On this trip, we spent our first and last night in Namibia there. It remains my favorite guesthouse in Windhoek. A lovingly furnished guesthouse. Each room has its own charm. Good and warm service. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Angie Spitzer

Perfect location just outside the center in a safe area of Windhoek. The room is spacious, clean, and very cozy. Breakfast was good, and you can park directly in front of the accommodation. It was also very kind that we could leave our luggage in the room on the day of departure and even use the room in the afternoon before heading to the airport.

Elisabetta e Silvio

Beautiful guesthouse, tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. We’ve never seen a shower in a room with two shower heads before, but it’s brilliant. Nice quiet location close to Windhoek.

Andreas Krause

The location is ideal, in the quiet and safe Klein Windhoek neighborhood, 40 minutes from the airport. The family room is very spacious, especially the bathroom (shower and bathtub), and has a terrace overlooking the Auas Mountains. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is friendly and breakfast is good. At the back of the hotel there is a beautiful terrace with a small pool and sun loungers. It’s a shame that dinner is not offered, but the owner took care of reserving a table for us at a good restaurant nearby.

Amélie Dekaise

A truly beautiful and welcoming guesthouse. The rooms are each more beautiful than the last, very spacious and well-equipped. The location is a bit out of the way (10 minutes drive from the center of Windhoek), but this makes it very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast buffet is also excellent. Excellent!
