Guided Walk in the Erongo

Experience Nature

Unlike hiking on your own, guided hikes offer the opportunity to venture off the marked trails to get a better look at animals or plants. The guides have a trained eye for nature.

Guided hikes are tailored in pace and length to individual needs and can be booked at any time.

Guided Hike in the Erongo

Caves with rock paintings bear witness to the early settlement of the Erongo by the San, the Bushmen. There are several areas here designated as “national monuments” with interesting rock drawings. Etemba with its Hein Cave, as well as Ameib with Philipp’s Cave and Bull’s Party—a plain strewn with granite boulders—are among these sights. A cave with drawings was also recently discovered on Hohenstein. In addition to the cave drawings, particularly beautiful granite formations make these areas rewarding excursion destinations, all of which are offered by Hohenstein Lodge.

The Spitzkoppe, a 700-meter-high granite formation, is also located near Hohenstein Lodge and is an absolutely worthwhile destination because of the beautiful and bizarre rocky landscape and prehistoric drawings. For hikers, the alpine-like landscape of the Erongo Massif, which reaches up to 2,300 m, is a true paradise.
