Sundowner Drive Erongo
Out and about in the day’s last light
In the late afternoon, you’ll head out into the landscape in open-top off-road vehicles. The drives take you through the respective reserve surrounding the lodge. With a little luck, you can spot animals while your guide points out the unique features of the environment and explains the local ecosystem.
We stop at a selected spot just in time for sunset. As the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon, it’s a moment to pause and enjoy—taking in the views of the landscape with a cool drink to round off the day.
As the light fades, the landscape visibly changes: ridges, dunes, and plains stand out more clearly, and long shadows trace their contours while heaven and earth turn into warm shades of red, brown, and purple. As darkness falls, we make our way back to the lodge.

The drive begins in open savanna and leads toward the striking granite formations of the Erongo, which rise up from the plains.
Along the way, you’ll pass the so-called Boulder Forest—a collection of massive, smooth-weathered boulders lying close together that give the landscape its characteristic look. With a bit of luck, you might also see animals moving between the rocks and bushes.
Once you reach the viewpoint, the view opens up over the surrounding landscape. As the sun sets, the granite peaks are bathed in shades of gold, orange, and purple—a special place for a sunset.

Ondili Lodges, Regions, and Experiences
Each Ondili Lodge is inextricably linked to its surroundings—and that is exactly where the local experiences come from. What guests can do here isn't just based on a fixed program, but arises from the landscape itself.
Every region reveals different facets of Namibia: sometimes the focus is on the wildlife, sometimes on the vastness of the landscape or exploring on foot. The lodges embrace these unique features.
This creates an interplay of location, accommodation, and activity that makes each region uniquely experienceable – and invites you to discover Namibia from different perspectives.
