Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp

Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp

Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp

Located in what is perhaps Namibia’s most beautiful landscape, Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp is strategically positioned near many surrounding attractions. Game drives into the river valleys to see the desert elephants depart from the camp daily.

Safari tents in two categories are built along one of the characteristic granite boulder formations and look out over the wide, mopane-covered Huab Valley. To enjoy the sunset spectacle – and that is truly the only way to describe it – that nature provides here evening after evening, guests meet on the ridge of the local mountain. The Mountain Bar offers ice-cold drinks.

For dinner, the open-air buffet and grill open under the clear desert starlight. Shadows dance on the bizarre granite formations in the glow of the campfire.

Location of the Tents

The safari tents are located at the foot of one of the striking granite formations that characterize this landscape. The tents follow the course of the rocks and open up into the wide valley of the Aba-Huab.

As a classic form of accommodation for an African trip, tents allow for an immediate experience of the surroundings. You remain part of the landscape—close to the sounds, the light, and the changing moods of day and night.

Damaraland Region

For many visitors, Damaraland—especially the valley around Twyfelfontein, which is crisscrossed by the ephemeral riverbeds of the Aba-Huab and Huab—is considered Namibia’s most beautiful landscape. The region feels wild and lonely. Dark granite mountains and hills in various shades of brown, gray, and black stand out from the light desert sand. Ana trees grow in the valleys of the dry riverbeds—they form the lifelines of this landscape. The valleys are the few areas where life can be sustained permanently and thus shape the entire structure of the region.

Here you will also encounter the desert elephants, which have adapted to these extreme conditions. They follow the dry riverbeds over long distances, know the few water holes, and specifically use the vegetation of the valleys—always in close connection with the landscape in which they live. Encounters with them are among the most special moments of a journey through Damaraland.

Ecology

Ecology

Ondili places the highest value on ensuring that the operation of Ondili Lodges results in nature conservation. This commitment is the foundation and driving force of the Ondili Group.

  • Since its inception, Ondili has invested its entire annual profit into nature conservation.
  • For every guest room in an Ondili lodge, Ondili has created at least 1,000 ha (10 km²) of new nature reserve in Namibia and maintains these reserves.
  • At Ondili, electricity and hot water are predominantly generated by our own solar power systems.
  • The local population benefits from the creation of jobs in the lodges' nature reserves and in the craft sectors.
  • Firewood for the evening campfires is sourced from bush clearing measures necessary for the regeneration of natural areas in Ondili's northern nature reserves.
  • Involvement of local farmers in nature conservation concepts

What Our Guests Say

Unique and top-notch. Beautiful and spacious tents. Very nice facility with a pool area. The sunset on the local mountain is a must. Very friendly staff, very good food. We lacked nothing and there is nothing to complain about.

Markus B.

We had a truly magical stay at this lodge, which was apparently recently renovated. The premium tents are beautiful and comfortable. The pool is gorgeous and the location in the middle of the valley, with the opportunity to admire the sunset from above via its own staircase, was fantastic. The elephant watching was also great.

Maud Canet

We were at Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp in August 2025. The camp is beautifully situated in a breathtaking landscape, and the sundowner spot offers a great view over the surroundings. It was very cold during our stay; the staff was great and happy to provide us with blankets and ponchos during the game drives to keep us comfortable. We can recommend this camp without reservation.

Sabrina Garasi

The camp is beautifully situated between the boulders. We had the standard tent, and it is still comfortable. Soft duvet. Clean toilet. Nice furnishings. Good water pressure. Hot water works perfectly. It’s a good place for a much-needed break.

Iukomi Kono

The Adventure Camp is a super location; we stayed in a tent with an outdoor sanitary area (toilet, shower, and sink). It was a real adventure, the tents are beautifully located, super nice staff, breakfast and dinner in buffet form, great bar in the dining area, a pool is also available, reception and toilets are very luxurious. For sunset, you go up a staircase to a rock platform where the staff is already waiting with drinks at a small bar—incredible views over the beautiful Damaraland and dreamlike sunsets.
