Lodges in Namibia's Most Beautiful Regions
Discover Lodges
Lodges and boutique guesthouses along popular tourist routes make it possible to design a round trip with Ondili.
All lodges are located in nature reserves in the immediate vicinity of major national parks or other places of interest. Exposed locations that showcase the characteristic features of each landscape make the lodges themselves highlights of the trip.
Etosha Oberland Lodge
Oberland
The lodge is located in the “Wildland Etosha” nature reserve on a vast plain that resembles a park landscape.
A curved wooden walkway leads to the open-plan reception with a lobby and bar. The view sweeps across the large infinity pool into the tree savanna, where animals can often be spotted. Shaded seating islands facing the waterholes invite you to watch the wildlife.
The main building, surrounded by ancient mopane trees, is set in a naturally park-like landscape. Meals are served in the spacious restaurant, which features indoor and outdoor seating and views of the two waterholes.
In the evening, after the 5-course dinner, you can relax with a drink in the lounge and spot nocturnal animals at the two illuminated waterholes.
Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge
Red Dunes
The landscape changes as you enter the 10,000-hectare Wildland Kalahari Nature Reserve. Red sand, the first dunes of the Kalahari, and the characteristic tree savanna form a picture-perfect African landscape. You can often spot your first animals on the way to the lodge. Giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras move through this transition zone between the hardveld and the sand dunes of the Kalahari.
The complex is located in a dry lake (vlei), which sometimes fills into a shallow lake during the rainy season. A wooden walkway leads to the main building with a restaurant, bar, and pool deck, situated right in the middle of the vlei. From the main building and the surrounding suites, you can look out over two waterholes in the vlei that regularly attract wildlife.
Teufelskrallen Lodge
Teufelskralle
Behind a protective wall lies the main lodge building with a reception, restaurant, and a beautiful garden. Shaded seating and a refreshing pool create the impression of a green oasis amidst the dusty, dry surroundings of the savanna. Breakfast and dinner are served here – either in the garden or indoors, depending on the weather.
The lodge’s tents can be reached from here by car after about three kilometers, located on the first dune ridge of the Kalahari.
Desert Homestead Lodge
Desert Homestead
Desert Homestead Lodge exudes an informal, relaxed lightness. The spacious grounds offer various ways to spend the day — whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying a cool drink in the shade at the desert bar, simply taking in the landscape, or making use of the numerous activity options.
Desert Homestead Lodge is located in a nature reserve covering over 130,000 hectares, the “Wildland Namib Tsaris Nature Reserve“. From the lodge, you can see the large red Elim Dune to the north, which is already part of the Sossusvlei National Park, the Nubib Mountains to the south, and the silhouette of the 2,000-meter-high Tsaris Plateau mountains to the east.
The lodge offers hikes, horseback rides, and half-day nature drives into these areas. Namibia’s world-famous dune sand sea around Sossusvlei is not far away. A day safari into the national park departs from the lodge daily.
Namib Outpost
Namib Outpost
Deeply embedded in the desert landscape of the Namib, the Outpost lies at the foot of a granite mountain. The vastness and solitude of the Namib are made into an experience at the Outpost. The landscape in the Sossusvlei region is characterized by impressive beauty, but also by merciless harshness due to heat and drought.
The chalets are designed for maximum privacy. Secluded terraces, a star-gazing bed, and an outdoor shower make experiencing the desert comfortable even in the open air.
Hohenstein Lodge
Hohenstein
In the heart of the “Wildland Erongo Nature Reserve,” the lodge is situated on a ridge above a dry riverbed, offering views across the tree savanna and smaller mountains directly to the cliff face of the Hohenstein.
From the terrace and the pool, animals can often be observed against the imposing backdrop of the Erongo Mountains. Almost every evening at sunset, the mountain provides a spectacle of colors in gold, red, and violet.
All rooms and chalets at the lodge are positioned with panoramic views of the Hohenstein. You won’t want to leave the large shaded terraces, but paved and illuminated paths without steps make the walk from the rooms to the restaurant and pool a pleasure.
Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp
Twyfelfontein
Located in perhaps the most beautiful landscape in Namibia, Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp is strategically positioned near many surrounding attractions. Game drives into the river valleys to see the desert elephants depart from the camp daily.
Safari tents in two categories are built along one of the characteristic granite boulder formations and look out into the vast, mopane-covered Huab Valley. To enjoy the sunset spectacle – and it really must be called that – which nature provides here evening after evening, guests meet on the ridge of the local mountain. The Mountain Bar delights with ice-cold drinks.
For dinner, the open-air buffet and grill open under the clear desert starlight. The shadows on the bizarre granite formations dance in the glow of the campfire.
Brigadoon Boutique Guesthouse
Brigadoon
Brigadoon is located in a quiet street in the heart of Swakopmund. From here, it is only a few steps to the beach and the old town.
Brigadoon, now a boutique guesthouse, was formerly a captain’s house built in 1906. The small estate is unmistakably shaped by its maritime character. The proximity to the sea, the light of the coast, and the special atmosphere of Swakopmund are reflected in the design.
Ti Melen Boutique Guesthouse
Ti Melen
In the quiet Avis district of Windhoek, Ti Melen is a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by a well-kept garden and situated on a hillside, the boutique guesthouse overlooks the district and the landscape as far as the Auas Mountains. From Ti Melen, the international airport is easily accessible via the bypass without having to go through the city.
The management is happy to organize a restaurant reservation for dinner in Windhoek upon request, for example at the iconic Joe’s Beerhouse, and ensures a safe transfer to the city and back.
Whether at the beginning or end of a Namibia round trip – the boutique guesthouse Ti Melen promises comfortable accommodation that combines modern amenities with a touch of vintage charm.
