Namibia Explorer Round Trip

Round trips through Namibia

A journey through Namibia is usually a round trip. The landscapes are too diverse, the habitats change too significantly – and with them, the wildlife.

Between the Kalahari, Namib, Erongo, and the Etosha region, the surroundings change step by step. Red sand gives way to bright, open spaces, ephemeral riverbeds cross the plains, and rock formations rise from the ground to define the landscape.

The Ondili Lodges are located exactly where these landscapes show their own character. After a day out in the heat and movement, the lodge becomes the counterpoint – a place where you arrive, sit down, and find peace. Shade, water, and a wide view of the landscape.

The suggested round trips show how these places can be connected – as a guide for a journey that keeps changing as it progresses.

Travel Day 3 + 4

Days in the Namib at Desert Homestead Lodge.

The lodge is located in the transition between the foothills of the Namib and the Tsaris Mountains. Bright savanna plains stretch through the surroundings, interspersed with individual rocks rising from the ground. The thatched-roof bungalows stand open in the landscape. Early in the morning, the shapes of the hills and plains stand out particularly clearly; later, the heat shimmers over the ground.

The UNESCO World Natural Heritage site with the dunes of Sossusvlei is just a stone’s throw away.

Included: Overnight stay | Breakfast | Dinner

Travel Day 5 + 6

Travel Day 5 + 6

Days in Swakopmund at Brigadoon Boutique Guesthouse.

The city is located directly on the Atlantic, where cool sea air drifts through the streets. In the morning, fog often lies over the coast; later it clears, revealing the view of the ocean. Between the houses, traces of the German colonial era appear again and again – facades, verandas, details that run through the city.

The Boutique Guesthouse is located between the beach and the center. The style is a modern and maritime interpretation – light materials, clean lines, and specific details that reference the sea without appearing forced.

Included: Overnight stay | Breakfast

Travel Day 7 + 8

Travel Day 7 + 8

Days in Damaraland at Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp.

The landscape is characterized by rugged rock formations, dry riverbeds, and sandy plains where individual dune ridges also stand out. Traces of wildlife appear in the sand again and again. With a bit of luck, desert elephants can also be found in the dry rivers and surrounding valleys.

The tented camp is located near Twyfelfontein and is the starting point for excursions to the rock engravings and the surrounding valleys.

Included: Overnight stay | Breakfast | Dinner

Travel Day 9 + 10

Travel Day 9 + 10

Days in the Etosha region at Etosha Oberland Lodge.

In Etosha National Park, life concentrates at the waterholes. Elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and with a bit of luck, predators come together here, often just a few meters apart. In addition to the wildlife, the dried-up salt pan especially shapes the park and determines the appearance of the landscape.

The Etosha Oberland Lodge is located in a private nature reserve adjacent to the national park. The suites are nestled among mopane trees, overlooking a waterhole where wildlife regularly gathers.

Included: Overnight stay | Full board | Local drinks

Travel Day 11 + 12

Travel Day 11 + 12

Days in the Erongo Mountains at Hohenstein Lodge.

The Erongo is characterized by striking granite formations that rise out of the landscape, with open bush and scattered rocks in between. You encounter wildlife here again and again. Ancient paintings are hidden in the rocks, and with a bit of luck, you will come across traces of the gemstone deposits for which the region is known.

The lodge is named after the Hohenstein – the highest mountain in the Erongo. Both from the main building and the chalets, the view is directed toward the granite massif, which shows glowing colors especially at sunset.

Included: Overnight stay | Breakfast | Dinner

Windhoek is a vibrant capital with diverse influences and contrasts. Between modern buildings, historic facades, and busy streets, urban life shows itself from different perspectives. Those who wish can walk through the city, discover small cafes, or immerse themselves in the city’s culture.

The Ti Melen Guesthouse is located slightly outside the center in a spacious garden. A quiet place to end the journey and let the impressions of the past few days sink in.

Included: Overnight stay | Breakfast

Individual sustainable round trips

Not every journey follows a fixed line. This route connects the different landscapes of Namibia and can be adjusted as it progresses. Between the Kalahari, Namib, Damaraland, and Etosha, segments are created that clearly differ from one another. The accommodations are located wherever the landscape finds its own expression. They offer both retreat and orientation – as quiet counterpoints to the days on the road.

The journey combines stylish, sustainably managed accommodations with a consistent price-performance ratio.
